Well hello there!
We are back from a fun vacation and are happy to be home! Stay tuned to check out our vacation recap!
Today let’s talk about how to keep your hair healthy during the summer. It’s summer time, the kids are out of school and if you are a momma, I would say 9 out of 10 times you are out swimming and enjoying the sun with the kiddos. Along with the gorgeous sun-kissed skin comes dry and brittle hair thanks to the sun and the chlorine. So how do I keep my hair healthy during the summer?
- Hold off on actually washing your hair as long as possible. I personally can’t go more than 3 or 4 days tops. But DO NOT wash your hair everyday or even ever other day. Find yourself a good dry shampoo and stock up.
- Coconut oil is your BFF. Okay that’s not true, not just coconut oil but any hair oil, or even a hair mask will be your best friend. Lather those locks with your favorite hair oil before hitting the pool (or beach) to help protect your hair. My sweet friend and hair stylist Melannie also recommends wetting your hair before hitting the pool to close up your hair pores. I also love sleeping with coconut oil on my hair over night and washing it the next morning, it leaves my hair soft and super shiny!
- Speaking of treatments, go to a salon (if you’re in Houston make sure to see Melannie at The Upper Hand) and get a repair treatment done like the Kerasilk Reconstruct Treatment. I love going to the salon to get a treatment done. Never does my hair feel so healthy and silky smooth! Best part of the Kerasilk Reconstruct Treatment is it can last up to 3-5 months!
- Limit the heat. Opt to let your hair air dry and then curl or straighten it. Summer is also the perfect season to try the bed head/messy beach waves look. All you need is the right products, and you can get the perfect set of beachy waves with no heat!
Can’t close off without talking about my look! How adorable is this romper?! Perfect look for the summer, and the plaid colors are so fun and great for summer, I also adore the peplum detail! I paired it with nude heels for the illusion of longer legs, and to complete the look I went with my white clutch to bring out the white in the romper and added my statement cuff to keep it chic yet not over the top.
