How to Style Espadrilles
Let's deep dive into shoes. I mean, you all know I'm one happy girl here talking about shoes ?. I'm a shoe girl, I LOVE my shoes, and I know many of you also love shoes. Today though, I wanted to focus on one shoe that is THE classic spring/summer shoe. One that genuinely does not go out of style. Enter in, espadrilles. Before we get into how to style espadrilles, let's learn more about the shoe first.
Originating in Spain, Espadrille is footwear with a sole made of Jute or fiber rope-like material from a plant. You can find espadrilles for both men and women and is usually a flat, or wedge shoe. Espadrilles are light and pratical.

Interesting story, did you know that the first espadrille was recorded from the Occitania region in France back in the 13th century. French designer YSL popularized the design of the wedge later on. #themoreyouknow!
When it comes to wearing your espadrilles, think of them elevating your summer OOTD vs. wearing a pair of flat sandals. Do you know who wears espadrilles a lot? Kate Middleton! Full of facts here today, lol.

As a Houston Wardrobe stylist, I always recommend having at least one or two pairs of espadrilles in your seasonal lineup. Why? Because they’re incredibly easy to style, work with almost everything, and give off that effortlessly chic, vacation-ready vibe.
If wedges aren’t your thing—no worries! You can totally still rock the espadrille look with a flat or sneaker version. I personally have a light tan and a black pair—both neutral, wearable, and versatile.

Don't be afraid to dress up your espadrilles a bit! I know they are not formal shoes, but they can be worn with dressier summer dresses! And don't let the heel fool you, these are REALLY comfortable heels to have, perfect for summer, and as you can see they are a GREAT summer shoe staple that can be worn so many ways.

Wrapping this post up with wedges, of course!! The key is to find a pair you love and that are comfortable. Typically wedges don't have a tall heel height, so you should be good! Another tip I learned from Jessica is to loop your lace IN FRONT of your ankle. Groundbreaking and genius- it offers SO much more support with espadrilles.
