DIY: Dermaplaning at Home

I love to shave my face ??. Dermaplaning though is not just shaving your face, though. The results are incredible, and despite what you think, your hair will not grow back thicker! Today let’s talk a bit more about dermaplaning at home and what you need to know before you DIY.

1. Will shaving my face cause acne?

No, it shouldn’t. You want to make sure you are shaving a CLEAN face! And after I shave I like to tone and apply a rich moisturizing lotion or oil to really hydrate my skin! Remember, products will absorb much better, so lather it up baby!

You do want to be careful though and avoid shaving if you have any open wounds or large acne spots. If you cut your skin, you can introduce bacteria and inflammation. You can also spread that bacteria around. So be careful!

2. Will shaving my face make hair grow thicker?

It will not! This has been debunked many, many times! It may feel like your hair is thicker, but it is not. Think about it, your hair naturally has a softer tip. When you are shaving your hair, you are shaving the ends straight, creating a blunt end.. does that make sense?

3. Is shaving my face the same as dermaplaning?

Yes. BUT, I would recommend getting a razor that not only shaves the peach fuzz off but exfoliates as well.

4. Should I shave my face with eyebrow razor or regular razor?

Again, I would recommend getting a dermaplaning facial tool. A regular razor won’t exfoliate as well as a facial tool.

5. What does the results look like?

Results from dermaplaning include better product absorption, smoother and softer skin as well. When you “shave” your face, what you’re doing is exfoliating the skin and removing the dead skin layer off as well! Thus, your skin looks and feels softer and smoother and even more radiant. It also helps your makeup apply better!

What else do I need to know about shaving my face?

Dermaplaning at home can become very easy and is a great step to add to your skincare routine. No need to do this every day, though. My recommendation would be once a month. Whatever you do, make sure to follow this DIY facial with your favorites skincare products for better absorption. And again be careful!

Love this! Wonder if my girlfriend knows about this or not…

I’ve not tried this yet but it looks so simple (and inexpensive) for such a great result. Make-up would glide on so much better too. It is in my future plans to try it out, the right tools I imagine make a big difference. I see you say once a month roughly is enough to do it – I wonder if that would be enough for me? I’d say you have to keep on top of this once you start.
