It’s March and currently in the low 40’s here in Houston, Texas. Factoring the windshield, it feels like a whopping 28 degrees. WHY is this weather out of its mind- I have no clue. But apparently it looks like the cold will still be lingering, and it is still flu season. With all this crazy talk going on, I wanted to share ONE thing we do at home to help with the sickness that works like MAGIC. It’s the DIY Starbucks Medicine Ball.
I don’t know what it is precisely about this, but this stuff is AMAZING. Any slight throat ache, or cough, this tea mix helps right off the bat. I can’t vouch for how healthy it is, or the number of calories it has. Nor can I legally claim that it will cure your sickness. BUT it has worked for JB and me.
Just like the great white mocha, I found a way to create this mixture at home. It’s not 100% the same, but its pretty close, and it still works its magic.
Here’s my DIY Starbucks Medicine Ball recipe;
Now here are a few tips I have learned;
- The amount of lemon juice you use does matter. I fill up my cup with *very hot* water 3/4 of the way. Then I fill it up with steamed lemon juice (see picture below for picture), I would use the 3 to 1 ratio for water and lemon juice. Also, the kind of lemon juice you use does not matter, just make sure it’s steamed or HOT.
- The kind of honey you use also does not matter, I like to use a local one I get from HEB.
- Finally, the tea you do use DOES make a HUGE difference. I have tried several off-brands (like Target brand) tea, and it did not taste the same. The Teavana Jade Citrus Mint Tea has been sold out everywhere in my area. As I was searching for teas online I noticed the TAZO (which is also a Starbucks brand) ZEN has the same ingredients and works great for the replacement as the Jade Citrus Mint Tea.
^^ this is how much water I use, and I top it off with lemon juice.
Have you tried this tea? What are your thoughts? Comment below! Thank you so much for stopping by, have a great day!
