Oi gente tudo bom?! (that’s hey guys, how are you?!). Most of you may know but if you don’t, I was born in Brasil! I have lived here in the US for most of my life, but I LOVE Brasil! If you didn’t know acai is actually a fruit that originated in Brasil! And today, I want to share my easy and simple acai bowl recipe. It’s SO good!

I craved acai bowls during my last two pregnancies like nobody biz. It is one of my favorite snacks/meals! I have a major sweet tooth, and this always hits the spot for me. Bonus points for it being healthy!

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of my easy and simple acai bowl recipe, let’s go over the basics;

Acai is (pronounced ah-sigh-ee) a small berry (looks like a blueberry) from acai palm tree, in Central and South America. They are often described as a cross between blackberries and unsweetened chocolate. “Thanks to their high antioxidant content, acai berries have many potential health benefits. They’re loaded with powerful plant compounds that act as antioxidants and could benefit your brain, heart, and overall health. They also deliver healthy fats and fiber, making them a generally healthy food” -via Healthline.

I want to note that there as TONS of different ways to make an acai bowl, so much that you can even make an acai-less bowl. If you end up running out of the frozen acai mix, you can add frozen berries as a substitute. 

The base of an acai bowl really can be personal and made how you like it. I know some add yogurt for more of a creamier base, coconut water for extra benefits, some even mix peanut butter, the list goes on!

Once you nail the base of your acai bowl, you can add whatever kind of toppings you like. Peanut butter, honey, berries, bananas, granola, chia seeds, coconut shavings, kiwi, pineapple. The sky’s the limit!

ADD THE FOLLOWING TO THE BLENDER:
1 packet of frozen acai berry
1/2 cup of coconut water
1 cup of frozen berries (I use a berry mix)

TOPPINGS:
1/2 banana
2 strawberries
Handful of blueberries
Granola
Sweetened coconut shavings
Honey
