Getaway Review, What Our Stay was like

About a month ago, we as a family took a quick trip to unplug and disconnect for a few days. Today, I’m finally able to share all about our trip and my Getaway Review.

I first heard about Getaway from my friend Katie. She went to the Atlanta outpost and raved about her stay. Fast forward to December we got the opportunity to stay at the Dallas location (or right outside Dallas).

I wanted to first share our Getaway Review and answer some questions I thought would help with booking your stay. I also have a code too! Use code: “UPTOWNELLY25” for $25 off a booking.

FIRST, WHAT IS GETAWAY?

Getaway is a company placing outposts throughout the U.S. These outposts have tiny cabins and are designed for you to unplug, slow down, and enjoy nature. In their words… “our tiny cabins in nature provide a break from the city, technology, and work so that you can recharge and reconnect to who and what matters most.” They have outposts in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, Pittsburgh + Cleveland, Portland and Washington, DC.

HOW FAR WAS THE DRIVE?

We are about 30 minutes N.W. of Houston, so it took us just under 3 hours to arrive at Getaway. I thought we would be in one small cabin in the middle of nowhere, but it turns out they have a HUGE property with tons of different cabins. Some cabins were in closer proximity to others, but not like personal space close.

HOW BIG ARE THE CABINS?

Getaway has different cabin sizes; their larger cabin accommodates up to 4 people. Pets are welcome too!

WHAT IF I GET BORED?

Getaway is all about unplugging and disconnecting. They even have a cell phone lockbox to put your phone in once you arrive. No need to worry about getting bored though, they have books to read, radio to listen to music, a fire pit, a map of the surrounding area, and things to do!

WHAT DO I DO ABOUT FOOD?

They do provide food (at an extra cost). But because we stayed for two days and we are a family of 6 I brought our Hello Fresh meals to cook. They do have a stocked kitchen with pots/pans, knives, cutting board, etc. They also have a stove and a fridge.

DOES IT HAVE A HEATER OR AC?

Yes!

WHAT’S THE BATHROOM SITUATION?

Ha, there is a running shower and toilet. With hot water… my kind of “camping,” or is it glamping?!??

WHAT SHOULD I PACK??

Only your clothes and food if you want to cook. They have toiletries, towels, supplies for the firepit, and anything else you might need! P.S. They do have staff is available on-site 24/7 in case you need anything.

FINAL THOUGHTS?

We loved our stay; we are FOR sure going back in Spring (once it’s not so cold). The boys had a blast making smores and hiking the trails, and it was nice being able to disconnect and “slow down” for a couple of days.

Don’t forget if you’re interested in booking a stay to use code: “UPTOWNELLY25” for $25 off a booking.

Comment below, have you heard or been to Getaway? Thank you so much for stopping by, have a great day!
