I verrry reluctantly finally bought myself a pair of golden goose sneakers. I polled you guys a few weeks ago on Instagram and asked if you would pay over $300 for them. Well, over 95% said NO.

For those that are unaware of who or what the golden goose sneakers are, they are made by Golden Goose Delux Brand. GGDB was born in 2000 by two merging Venetian designers Francesca Rinaldo and Alessandro Gallo.

Fast forward to now, they have one of the most coveted skater looking sneakers out there. GGDB is all about the vintage feeling and combines “the West Coast skater cool with Italian cobbling excellence” via SCMP. (if you’re curious about the brand read more here).

I mean I get it, they look dirty, old, and something that has gone through hell and back. BUT, I decided to take one for the team ? and buy myself a pair of golden goose sneakers. I couldn’t find myself to buy the $500 pair, but I did find my pink pair on sale for under $400.

But are they worth it?!

Well, I guess that depends on who you ask. For me, I am still a little shocked that I actually paid that much for a worn out, and dirty looking sneakers. Do they look cool? Yes (at least in my book, I also LOVE the pink glitter ones). But are they reallllly worth it? I can’t decide, honestly!

What’s my take on them?

At first, they were VERY stiff. I have tried to wear them several times to see if I can break them in, and it’s slooowly getting there. The first two times I wore them they hurt, like really hurt.

The inside of the shoes has this cloth material that rubs on my toes wrong and does make them a bit uncomfortable. I have been wearing these barefooted, and am on the hunt for some thin no-show socks. Hopefully, having socks on will make them better.

They are high-quality sneakers. They are made in Italy (we all know they know leather) and made out of genuine leather. Which is why they are stiff and need to be broken in. Regarding size, I went with my size (6.5), and they do fit true to size.

The wedge sole is … weird. I am not 100% certain if this wedge sole is in every GGDB shoe, but there is a removable wedge sole in my golden goose sneakers. It’s not uncomfortable, but it’s well, different. It’s like I am wearing heels but not, really if that makes any sense. I do think the wedge sole make the shoe a bit more snug.

Overall, I do like the golden goose sneakers. Will I buy some more? Maybe, but probably not. Unless I can snatch them at 50% off! I do love the unique worn-in look they have. Kind of reminds me of that old sweater you have with holes that you refuse to give up.

Again, I can’t say if I am 100% sold on the shoes. Hopefully, I can change my mind and break these bad boys in. If that happens, then you may see me wearing these a lot more often. The plus side is because these golden goose sneakers are so worn in, I won’t have to worry about getting stepped on by my kids. Ha, #momlife.

** UPDATE- I have worn these and ended up LOVING my GGDB shoes.. come see this post on how I have been wearing them!

Did they ever break in? I just got my second pair (first leather pair) and today is my first day wearing them. Omg they are so painful!

If you usually wear a 6.5 size did you go with 36 or 37? Thanks in advance

Nicole

You could not pay me to wear them. They are ugly.. seriously people have derailed on the fashion train. What a hot mess. No redeeming qualities to this footwear at all. People are such fools and followers it is sad and pathetic.

I’m with Nicole. Pure decadence and consumerism.

Those Golden Goose are to die for! I super love the silhouette

I want To be able to lace them like you did, but the laces they came with are way too short. I bought White laces and they look weird because they are so white. What kind of laces do you have? Thank you!

I don’t think you know much about shoes miss. If you had to question whether they were worth the $400, then they definitely weren’t. They look like absolute garbage. They definitely aren’t the hottest thing right now, nope. “Genuine Leather”….that says nothing. There’s different qualities of leather, miss. That’s low grade leather. See, what YOU did was buy into some hype, undoubtedly from Tik Tok. Congrats on that.

Love the way you styled these. You are adorable! Unfortunately, I had to consign my pair (north of $500). You are spot on about the stiffness and rubbing on upper toes. I tried them with thin socks, no socks….nothing worked…Hopeful they will find a loving home. I will be sticking with my Cole Haan Zero Grands ?
