Much of 2020 was and is a blur to me, especially the last quarter of 2020. With the move, the new house, a friend passing. It was all hard. Jordan is still working from home and trying to juggle his two calls a day (he has two one-hour-long calls EVERY. SINGLE. DAY) with the kids, and my work is just- madness to put it simply.
I don’t get to sit down and work until the kids go to bed, which means I can barely get anything done and work until 2 AM. So, of course, I wake up exhausted, tired, cranky, and in a bad mood. It’s a vicious cycle. And because of the lack of sleep, you make unhealthy choices like what kind of foods you are eating; you don’t work out, you don’t drink a lot of water- the list goes on.
After reading The Hell with Hustle, the author mentioned goals and how he doesn’t set them. He gave the example of running 10 miles, and when you make that goal saying, “This year I am going to run 10 miles”, but then you run 10 miles- then what happens? Instead of saying I will run 10 miles, you should instead make it a lifestyle habit/change and say, “this year, I’m going to be a runner.”
This year, I will try what Jefferson mentioned in his book and take a slightly different approach.
Healthy Habits for 2021 – Fuel My Body Better.
This year, I am focusing on cutting out dairy and excess sugar. I also want to eat more color and protein. In the last month, I have successfully cut out milk in my coffee! Which is a BIG deal for me. I love my whole frothy warm milk in my coffee.
I’m still working on cutting back sugar. You don’t realize how much food has added sugar and how sugar is an addiction. Jordan also has stomach issues with his bluebell eating habits (he will eat 4 big old scoops of bluebell every night and wonder why his stomach hurts after?). I don’t even want to think about how much sugar is in bluebell.
Lastly, I want to add more color to my diet and more protein. I do not eat nearly as many greens and veggies as I should be eating. And I eat way too many empty carbs. Lately, we have been trying Blue Apron and I must say, we have really enjoyed their new wellness menu.
Blue Apron’s new Wellness menu is full of nutritionist-approved recipes. 23+ weekly menu options (so you have lots of options to choose from), and the menu includes Carb Conscious, WWTM Approved, and vegetarian recipes that the whole family will love.
I love having meals delivered because it saves me the stress of meal prepping and grocery shopping for me. You can also get up to four recipes in one week (we get 3) and pick the most convenient day for delivery. You can also skip weeks on Blue Apron’s Signature menus. Best of all, the recipes are simple and efficient to prepare in 35 minutes or less! P.S. Blue Apron’s flexible plans start as little as $7.49 per serving. Meals are planned and portioned, so there is less food waste and helps you limit impulse buying. Take a look here to see more of Blue Apron’s meals today and to get $60 off your first 3 boxes!!
Healthy Habits for 2021- Prioritize My Sleep.
I need to get 7 hours of sleep every night. And I need to go to bed earlier. Sleeping for 4 or 5 hours every night is draining the life out of me. It’s crazy to see how sleep affects every area of your life. Sleep can effect your mood, your well-being, even your coping mechanisms.
I will start setting an alarm at night for when it’s time to turn off the electronics, shut things off and start my bedtime routine. I WILL commit to this.
Healthy Habits for 2021 – Take Time Off
I’m a workaholic. There I said it ?. Being a content creator is a job I love, and I thank God I get to do this. BUT- many sides of it are not glamours, and a lot goes on behind the scenes (if you want to see what the job entails, take a look at this post).
The hardest thing for me is that social media doesn’t turn off, so you can’t take time off. If you do, you end up getting hurt by the algorithm. This year, I do not care anymore about the algorithm. For my sake, I need to take time off. In most jobs, you get two days off, so why in the world can’t I take two days off?? Work can not be a priority like it has been recently. Work will not love me like my family and friends will.
What are some healthy habits you want to try this year? Share with me below, I would love to hear them.
Thank you so much for stopping by, have a great day!

Thank you for sharing this, Elly! I’ll definitely try to live more healthily this year too! ❤️✨
