I will be the first to admit I love nice, and pretty and pricey items. I think we all do. Those things are great to have, but by no means do I think we need to go into debt or eat ramen noodles just to have a Gucci bag. I also don’t think there is a need to have everything you are wearing (head to toe) a high-end label.
I wanted to share a few simple tips on how to mix high and low fashion. Again, your outfit doesn’t need to be Gucci head to toe, although if you can afford it, then more power to ya girlfriend!
So what should we invest in, and what do we skip out on? Basically, (in a nutshell) you have thing think about trends, staples, and fast fashion. Your closet staples are items like a nude pair of pumps, a statement bag, and key accessories. Things that will last you more than one season.
So what should we invest in, and what do we skip out on? Basically, (in a nutshell) you have thing think about staples, fast fashion, and trends.
Your closet staples are items like a nude pair of pumps, a statement bag, and key accessories. Things that will last you more than one season.
Fast fashion is going to be your items like off the shoulder tops, and other trends you see in stores like HM, Zara, or Forever 21.
Trends are things that come and go like chokers, overalls, gingham, etc.
For example my outfit in today’s post- I got my top under $50, and my jeans were under $45. Two pieces that when paired with high-end items look chic.
With all that said, splurge on these items;
Bags
Shoes
Accessories
Jackets
Everything else skip.
Nowadays, you don’t even have to pay full price for a high-end item. I love looking at consignment boutiques for resale items. I got these brand new nude Manolo pumps for under $150!
My biggest tip when it comes to shopping consignment is TO BE PATIENT. It’s something you have to take your time and look. Make sure you also do your homework and shop at a reputable shop.

What do you splurge or save on? Do you like to mix high and low fashion pieces together?
Thank you so much for stopping by, have a great day!
xoxo,
Mixing expensive (well, expensive for me anyway, because I don’t have anything that comes from brands higher up than Zara or Topshop LOL) and budget-friendly pieces is what I usually do day to day! 🙂 I love going to thrift stores and it always surprises people when they find out my clothes were so cheap. 😉
