Raise your hand if you’re a stay at home parent? I get it, being at home with the kids… is HARD. Waking up and your kids are already going 100 miles per hour, the dog is barking, the T.V. is loud. Lord help me, this is me 97% of the time.

There are good days and bad days. Good mornings, and not so good mornings. But over the years, there have been things that I’ve learned to do that help set the tone for the day. I get asked how do I do it all, how do I find the time to do my hair, get dressed or do my makeup. And trust me, there are days where I don’t get a shower until 3 pm or later.

Other days, I am KILLING my game. But those are not very often (#keepingitreal). I wanted to share 5 simple tips and things I do that help me kick start my day. These little things don’t seem like much… but trust me, when they are all done they make a WORLD of a difference.

How to start your day:
Wake up before everyone else. Even if it’s 15 minutes. Get a shower, and drink a hot cup of coffee ALONE. Make it a habit to have that first cup of coffee in peace, and alone.

How to start your day:
Swap the yoga leggings for jeans. I know, I know, those Lululemon leggings are comfy. But, a simple swamp for denim makes you feel SO. MUCH. BETTER. Also, since you wore real clothes forget about doing anything else. That’s an accomplishment in itself. Haha!

How to start your day:
Make your bed. It’s said that the most successful people make their beds every day. I read that somewhere and now that I think about it, I don’t know how true that is?. But it’s enough for me to make my bed, haha! But I will say for me, making my bed in my head makes me feel less messy and less cluttered.

How to start your day:
Wash and dry your hair the night before. One less thing you have to do in the AM. That should be enough to convince you, bonus points for looking a bit more put together and having clean hair.

How to start your day:
Last, but not least… have your quiet time. This may be last on my list here, but it’s the first thing I do. Even on mornings when I don’t have 30 minutes to sit down, I love reading First 5 app. It’s only 5 minutes and those 5 minutes, believe it or not, can make such a difference. I always feel it deep in my soul when I haven’t had quiet time with God, my days are longer, I’m more irritable, and the list goes on.

Such good advice! Thanks for sharing ?

I always wash and dry my hair the night before! I have naturally dry and frizzy hair, so it’s at its best when the hair oils have had at least a few hours to settle in overnight. It saves so much time in the morning when I don’t have to style it at all! 🙂 ?

Hilde

What time do you generally wake up at to do ALL that you do? I don’t know how you do it.

Hilde

What time do you generally wake up at? And please some advice on how to actually get out of bed. I have such a difficult time separating from my pillow.
