A couple of months ago, we dove into all things denim here on the blog and across social media, and you all loved it! In fact, one of our denim styling videos even went viral. During that week, I received a lot of the same questions, so I wanted to round up some of the videos we shared on social, along with a few pictures that will serve as a helpful visual guide—all in one place. One of the most frequently asked questions during denim week was how to style and wear boots with jeans.
If you missed the denim week blog posts, you can catch up on them here, here, and here. But today, we’re breaking down exactly how to pair your favorite boots with different styles of jeans, so you can confidently put together polished and stylish outfits. Whether you’re in Houston, Texas, or anywhere else, I want to help you master your wardrobe with expert styling tips. As a personal wardrobe stylist in Houston and a Houston style expert, I love helping women find effortless ways to elevate their everyday looks. Below, you’ll find easy-to-follow videos and images that you can save and reference whenever you need a little denim inspiration. Let’s dive in!

Tip: Same pants, same shoes. The difference here is the length of the pants. For most body types with any ankle bootie, your pants should be cropped right above your ankle.

Tip: there are two ways to wear straight-leg jeans with boots. If your boot shaft is tall, you can tuck your pants UNDER the boots. If your boot is ankle length, just make sure the hem of the jeans meets the top of the boot shaft.

Above are two different types of pants with different boots. Sock booties typically look best worn UNDER your pants, UNLESS they are skinny jeans (both over and under skinny jeans look good). For true ankle booties, the pant hem should hit right above the boot (see below how to crop if they are longer). If your boot is knee-high, OTK, or has a higher shaft, always tuck inside pants inside your boot. UNLESS they are flare

Before I forget too, round vs. pointy toe; which one is better? Again, I think that will be a personal choice. Both are classics and there is no right or wrong answer. For me, pointy-toe tends to be a bit dressier vs round-toe tends to be a bit more casual (not always the case, but as a general rule). I think it’s great to have a mixture of both so you can have it all but without having 15 different pairs of boots.

Tip: skinny jeans maybe be “out” but not for me. The same rules can be applied with skinny jeans as the tips above though!
