Well hello there Friday. Phew, this week FLEW by. As in, where did time go?!
As many of you may know my house is a current war zone. My kitchen is completely out of commission. But I’m not going to lie to you; I am actually kind of liking it. No kitchen means= no cooking, ha!
I want to talk about something near and dear to my heart today. The importance of investing in yourself. I get tons of comments on my pictures referencing that I am a mom and that I wear XYZ. I recently posted a picture (on my personal Facebook) of Colin on my shoulder while I was wearing heels. Now don’t get me wrong, wearing heels with little ones is a hard task, and I only wear heels if I have help… like my husband or parents. But I LOVE wearing heels, as much as they hurt, I live for them. I used to wear them in high school (true story).

Where am I going with this? Well, as mothers we have this preconception notion that we shouldn’t wear certain things because we are in fact, mothers. Which, who came up with that load of BS anyways?!
Why shouldn’t we wear chokers or the latest trend? Why should we wear ‘mom jeans’?

Today I want to encourage other mamas out there to invest in yourself. Don’t let you being a mother stop you from leaving your babe (or babes) with a babysitter and going shopping, or getting your hair done.
I love dressing up and spending time on my hair and makeup. But you see, I do it for ME. When I feel beautiful and invest in myself, I can give my family the best version of me. I am also teaching them the importance of taking care of the body God gave them. When I work out, I don’t do it just to look good naked (although that doesn’t hurt). I do it because I want to be healthy. In turn, I can give my family the best of me.

You know where I am going with this, and I don’t want to keep repeating myself. Today invest in you mama, or tomorrow morning, sneak out of the house to get a mani and pedi and leave dad with the kids. You can tell him I said so! Whatever it is you enjoy doing, do it! Draw a bath, read a book and drink wine at 11 am. #nojudment
Have a great weekend and take time yourself, you deserve it!

That velvet blazer is pure love and I’m loving the way you wore it!
I’m into anything velvet now so it’s not hard to get me “sold” on something velvety. 🙂
