The best (okay maybe not the best, but it’s close to the best) thing about having boys so close in age is having a shared toddler room.
As soon as we found out Colin was going to be a boy we knew without a doubt that we wanted the boys to have a shared toddler room. As soon as Colin was around 5-6 months, we moved him upstairs with his big brother.
Well, with sharing rooms, comes many (and I mean many new challenges). The biggest one is getting them to GO TO SLEEP. My gosh, this has been a long battle with us. Getting the boys to go to sleep, and STAY in their shared toddler room has been a nightmare.
I’ve shared our struggle here on getting the boys to go to bed, and it has gotten better. But let me tell you, we tried it all. Or at least we thought we did. UNTIL, the idea dawned on me that maybe, they don’t want to share a bed?
Colin and Jadyn are both horrible sleepers. They both move so much, they kick you and hit you. The times they have come to our bed I end up with feet on my face, I get elbowed and my blanket was stolen from me. I think this is payback for how I used to sleep as a child (my sister can testify to this).
Long story short, I one day asked Jadyn and Colin what they thought about a bunk bed. Sure enough, ever since then, they have not let the idea go.
So part of their big brother gift was to get new beds for their shared toddler room. And here I am thinking WHY DID I NOT THINK OF THIS SOONER!!!!
Guys, we have had the bed for a week now, and they are both sleeping in their bunk beds! Night time has been easy, and it doesn’t take two hours for them to go to sleep! Like, why didn’t anyone tell me to get a bunk bed sooner?
And I get it, they feel like a big kid, they have their beds, their mattress, and they picked out their sheets. There is a sense of being independent and having something of their own.
I am so glad we got the Maxton bed from Dorel Living. This set can be used as a bunk bed or two separate beds. The old bed we had wasn’t going to be a bed they could grow into. But the Maxton bed however will! Once they get old enough, we can separate the beds and change up the decor.
The Maxton bed is under $400 and SO well made. The quality of the bed is impeccable and feels sturdy! I also like how it didn’t take forever to build, it was easy and straightforward!
I am collaborating with Dorel Living today to give you guys a special discount and to get 15% off Jadyn’s and Colin’s Maxton white bunk bed. All you have to do is use code 15elly at checkout (promo code valid ONLY on Amazon). Promo code is valid until February 12, 2018.
