Build your own wardrobe

Summer Shoe Staples

I’m super excited to start this series with you guys. This has been something I have wanted to do for such a long time, but I didn’t know how I wanted to start it, and had to organize things in my brain first before I brought it to life! You may have noticed this post today is BYOW: Summer Shoe Staples – BYOW meaning Build Your Own Wardrobe. I swear, though, every time I see BYOW, I think BYOB ?.

If you have followed along now, you know I have always tried not to share just an outfit, but how to wear things and style things differently. I never want you to buy something, and then it’s just another piece of clothing hanging up in your closet. I want you to love dressing up, and I want you to love your wardrobe. You don’t need to have designer pieces to love your closet; you need to find the clothes, accessories, and items that work for you and your lifestyle.

BYOW will be a series every other week where we will be sharing closet staple items to have, how to wear them, finding the right one for your body type, and everything else you can think of. Each post will be dedicated to one item or trend. So if you have something in your closet, you need help styling, or you have a piece you would like for us to cover- make sure to let us know!

Today we are going to kick it off with Summer Shoe Staples for women. These are shoes you to have in your closet and shoes you will use every Summer and even Spring. Keep your eyes peeled, too, because we will also be sharing how to style and wear these in the next few weeks! Let’s dive in..

Looking for Summer Shoe Staples that will last years and that can go with everything? Here you'll find 6 shoes you'll wear ALL season.

Summer Shoe Staple: Espadrilles

Espadrilles I’m wearing here.

When I think of summer outfits, I think of summer dresses and espadrilles. But don’t you worry- you can pair espadrilles with just about anything! And they come in other colors too. I own these and a black pair. P.S. You HAVE to read this article and see this hack on how to tie them. My mind is BLOWN. I tried it, and what a difference it makes tying them like this.

Summer Shoe Staple: Nude Sandals

Heels I’m wearing here.

Here is where I would suggest you splurge a bit more and find a high-quality nude sandal. One that will flatter your feet shape and that is comfortable. They don’t have to be sky-high, and the heel doesn’t have to be thin (although I think a thinner heel is more flattering). Find ONE quality nude sandal, and I promise you the CPW (cost per wear) will be worth it. I have ONE nude heel sandal, and I LOVE this one. So instead of buying three different nude sandals, again, find one timeless that you know you can wear with anything and everything.

Summer Shoe Staple: White Sneakers

Sneakers I’m wearing here.

Make sure the sneakers are ALL white. A solid white sneaker will go with anything. From sundresses to denim shorts- these will go with everything. Bonus; these can also be worn all year round! Find a low profile and sleek pair!

Summer Shoe Staple: Pearl

Sandals I’m wearing here.

From sneakers to slides to heels. I love pearl shoes. I think they are a fun and feminine way to dress up, even the most casual outfit. I’ll admit these may not be a “staple” shoe to some, but I think having fun, and maybe a less expensive summer shoe is fun to have.

Summer Shoe Staple: Platform Sandals

Sandals I’m wearing here.

platform sandals or slides. This can be your pick. I suggest a pair that isn’t too trendy, but more of a classic platform, one that you know you’ll get the most wear. I like the platform sandals that look like gladiator sandals.

Summer Shoe Staple: Slides

Slides I’m wearing here.

Slides and more slides! If you want to go all out, you can get your three primary colors; white, black, and tan. They are easy on, easy off, and great for the summer! I would also suggest finding a quality slide with quality leather to ensure that the slides last years and years. My recommendation is to avoid square toe slides only because I feel the trend will quickly fade. I think round toe is also more flattering on most feet.

Thank you so much for stopping by, have a great day!
