Long live the days where I will travel alone. I actually really love traveling, I love getting on the airplane and going somewhere new. Traveling with kids can become a nightmare very easily (which is why I don’t do it often now). When I was young we would travel every year to Brazil and I always remember my mom and dad being very paranoid about being at the airport 4 hours before takeoff, and they would always get super nervous if anything was delayed.
I am very much like my father. I have a hot, stubborn, and hard head all rolled into one (I am SO glad that Jordan is the complete opposite). Thanks to my father when it comes to traveling I also get super nervous and extremely paranoid if something goes wrong. Add on two kids and things just go south very quickly!
Over the years and after traveling with and without kids I have found that being organized and having a check list help me best. I am also for things that simplify and make life easier. SO when it comes time to packing, even though I do over pack (better safe then sorry) I tend to be really strategic on what to bring and how to pack.
So what do I pack? Well like I said I am an over packer, but a strategic one at least! I have all my outfits planned out and I always have a carry on with all my essentials to make flying as less stress free as possible, I also have a backup outfit and essentials in my carry on in case anything ever happens to my luggage. I love using a weekender bag from Vera Bradley to double as my purse/carry on because of the size of bag + all the convenient pockets inside the bag (which makes it easier for me to find things). I have found that if I have one too many bags its just makes things difficult and harder for me to keep track of-this is especially true if you are traveling with little ones! Best part for me (thanks to my germaphobe) is that I can always wash my weekender bag and be good to go once I am done traveling.
Lets also talk about what to wear when you travel. There is not need to look like a hobo, but no need to glam up also (although I have on several occasions). Bring a scarf, airplanes tend to get cold, and having something of your own to cover up is better than the airplane blankets. Also, choose to glam up a casual outfit with fun accessories! Just don’t have an arm party- having to take all the jewelry on and off during security wont be any fun!
I’m so excited to going up to Denver with the boys to go see the mountains and snow, I am counting down the days! Are you traveling for the holidays? If so where are you going? Make sure to check Vera Bradley for all your traveling needs!
