The older I get, the less I care about fitting into some standard others may have for me. In my 20s, I would bend over backward to make someone happy- even a stranger- and while I think one does require discernment- one thing I have learned in my 30s is to stop forcing myself to be something or someone I am not for the sake of others. I am ME- there is only one me, and the only person that can be me is, well, ME. Not everyone will like it, and that is OKAY- I don’t need the approval of others to be myself.

Here’s your reminder- there is only one you, and only you can be you. Not everyone has to like you, and you don’t have to live for the approval of others. Go be CHAMPAGNE🎉🍾🥂!!!

EVER HEARD OF THE WRONG SHOE THEORY?🤔

👟It’s a theory in which you wear the “wrong” shoes with your outfit, giving the look a juxtaposition or contrast in the outfit. Making it interesting and unique.

👜Well, I want to take it a step further and introduce the wrong accessory theory. Does anyone remember when JCREW used to style a baseball cap with almost all of their looks, even suits? I personally always loved it.

👟A lot of the time, when it comes to our clothes, we like to compartmentalize our “work only” outfits or weekend outfits- and what I want to challenge you here is STOP doing that . There is a way to mix and match the two if you want playfully! For example, your suits don’t need to work only. You can dress them down with sneakers or a baseball cap and make them look a bit more relaxed or playful.

👜So here’s your challenge today- find a way to dress down your suit or your dress. Add the “wrong shoe” to your outfit. Add the wrong bag or accessory to your outfit. Make it interesting- make it fun!
