When Life Gives You Lemons

We all know the when life gives you lemons saying. I have been thinking about this saying for quite some time now. Life isn’t easy, and we don’t always get our way.

We lose our job, or we don’t get the promotion we wanted. Some “life lemons” can bring us down and put a damp on our days, weeks and even months.

I want to encourage you today with a few things to do and how to change your perspective. Life is about perspective, and sometimes changing how to see things may be the answer.

WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS, PRAY. The Bible has many scriptures on prayer. 1 John 5:14 reads “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”

1 Chronicles 16:11 reads “Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.” It’s in prayer that we can rest, find strength and the peace that passes all understanding. It’s also in prayer where God speaks to us and can give us the answer we have been looking for.

WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS, SEEK WISE COUNSEL. Iron sharpens Iron. We all need a group of friends that we can seek help. Friends that will sometimes love us enough to tell us the truth, and not just what we want to hear.

WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS, GO FOR A WALK/RUN. I don’t know what it is about walking in nature. But truthfully, exercise releases feel-good endorphins. So get active! Side note: If you need a boxing bag get one. I can’t tell you how many times I have used mine! Haha!

WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS, SERVE. It’s said that people who volunteer are more likely to be happier. Serving allows you to focus on someone else’s need vs. your own. Empathy, we all need more of it.

WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS, JAM OUT. My current mood-boosting songs are throwback 90’s pop. There is nothing like a little “That Boy Is Mine” to get me back up again. If you’re having a really rough day, try singing in the shower. Everyone sounds good in the shower! ?
