Winter Skincare Tips You Need to Know & Try

This post is in collaboration with Nordstrom & Shopstyle Collective. However, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

Sweater weather is here! Along with warm cozy nights by the fire and snowman building also comes cold dry air, which can sometimes wreak havoc on your skin. I love the cold weather, but I HATE winter skin. And when it comes to your skin during the winter months, it does need a little more TLC. So today, I am teaming up with Nordstrom to share eight winter skincare tips and things you should be doing to avoid flaky and itchy skin.

If you suffer from dry skin in the winter, then keep reading on how to help combat dry, flaky skin (for your face too!) and some of my current favorite products to use and where to buy. You’ll be able to find all these products at Nordstrom.com. I always purchase my beauty products from Nordstrom.com. I get fast and free shipping! 8 Winter Skincare Tips you need to know and do to keep your skin healthy and from freaking out during the cold winter months!

Winter Skincare Tips You Need to Know & Try

DO DRINK UP

Don’t forget your H20. Just because it’s not hot outside and you are not sweating, it doesn’t mean you don’t need water. Keep your skin hydrated inside out!

DON’T FORGET SPF

You still need SPF. ALL year-round.

DO READ THE INGREDIENTS

If you have sensitive skin or dry skin, try avoiding skincare items with harsh ingredients. Ceramides and peptides can protect and restore your skin barrier to help retain moisture. Also, if you’re acne-prone, try using water-based creams.

DON’T FORGET TO EXFOLIATE

You don’t want to exfoliate here, but you need to get rid of dead skin build-up. I’ve ditched the body scrubs for good recently. I only use the dry brushing technique, which is excellent for removing dead skin and detoxing your skin by increasing blood circulation and promoting lymph drainage. I do this at night, shower, and then apply my night oil.

DO SWITCH MOISTURIZERS

Switch to an oil-based moisturizer for your skin, especially at night time. It’ll help lock in the moisture, and you’ll wake up with soft skin! I recently bought this oil from Necessaire (I love the clean brand). I love that it doesn’t have a scent, so it doe not give me a headache. It’s also formulated with critical antioxidants, vitamins, and Omegas 6, 7 and 9, which help restore, nourish and soften skin.

DON’T TAKE LONG HOT SHOWERS

Speaking of showers, avoid hot long steamy showers. Hot water can dry out your skin!

DO GET A HUMIDIFIER

Try getting a humidifier for your room! Heaters can dry up moisture in the air. Try adding a humidifier in your bedroom while you get that beauty sleep to bring moisture back into the air and help your skin.

DON’T FORGET HYALURONIC SERUM

Try a rich moisturizer + a hyaluronic acid serum. Hyaluronic helps attract and KEEP moisture into your skin if you don’t know. After applying your hyaluronic serum, try a deep moisturizer that will lock everything in. Osea has been a brand I’ve wanted to try for a while now; with such good ratings on both the water cream and serum, I decided this was an excellent time to try. The cream leaves your skin soft and hydrated. But the serum is the winner, winner. Hands down best hyaluronic serum I have tried.
